Born just outside of Paris, the son of a Boulanger, Christophe attended a cooking school from the ripe young age of 13 and hasn't left ' the business ' since. He apprenticed weekends at a Parisian restaurant (starting with a lot of dishwashing) and moved to a serving school at the age of 15. He then moved to Montreal in 1987 where he worked in a variety of restaurants until moving to Vancouver in 1992 where he started at Le Crocodile and remained a waiter there for 5 years. He left there to join the Kambolis team of restaurants, starting with Raincity Grill (where he met his lovely wife Julie) moving on to help open ' C ' Restaurant where he remained for 7 years as Head Waiter and Catering Manager (and the best darned seller of French Champagne.) In May of 2004 Christophe and Julie moved to Bowen Island to take over Tuscany Restaurant. Now back to his original roots in the kitchen, tossing his waiter apron aside Christophe brings with him years of exporsure to fabulous kitchens. In addition to our gourmet pizza from our wood oven downstairs, you will find Chistophe upstairs creating daily menus of both Italian and French comfort food. He seems to have found his happy place! * Born in Northern Ireland, moved to Canada as a baby, Julie also started in the food business at the age of 13 .....at Dairy Queen. But her long career of the restaurant business really started in Edmonton at the age of 18, ironically at a 'pizza joint' (albeit a lot less glamourous than our current style of gourmet pizza.) Julie moved to Vancouver in 1988 and continued as a waiter in a variety of downtown restaurants. Her passion for food and wine was ignited when she joined Raincity Grill in '94 where she stayed for 6 years, both as a waiter and manager (and worked briefly with Christophe.) Her first real Italina experience was at Quattro on 4th where she worked before joining' C ' Restaurant. That's where other 'passions' were ignited, and Julie & Christophe became husband and wife. Taken in by the charms of Bowen Island and this quaint little pizzaria, Christophe and Julie packed up their city bags and moved to this piece of paradise. Keeping the gourmet pizza intact, together they expanded the menus and created a welcoming atmosphere that resembles the hustle and bustle of a European Trattoria We'll see you in T u s c a n y ! |
